Free Conference Prep for Students – Sign up for the UK SLIS Student Conference now!

SLIS Students,

Want to practice conference presentation skills? Need some conference experience on your CV or resume? Want to discuss LIS topics with peers and professionals?

This year, the UK SLIS student organizations are joining together to hold their first Student Conference on Friday, April 18th from 2:30 – 4:30 p.m. On-campus and distance students are encouraged to submit proposals. SLIS students (past and present), SLIS faculty/staff, library professionals, etc. are invited to attend.

Students interested in submitting a proposal or attending should fill out this form by 11:59p.m., March 31.

The Student Conference will be an open (no bell-ringing) Speed Geek event, consisting of 5-15 minute presentations. Students are encouraged to submit brief summaries of topics/papers/projects they have already completed for the proposals.

Presenters will be provided a table so they can present in any format, such as: PowerPoint, Prezi, SlideRocket, poster, or discussion with handouts. Presenters are invited to use laptops, iPads, etc. to present, but should plan for technology not being provided. Distance students will have the opportunity to present through Adobe Connect. Distance students must have Internet access at their locations to present, but technology will be provided at the conference for attendees to view distance students’ presentations through Adobe Connect.

We hope to see you there!
