As you may know, last year saw the return of our school’s ALA student chapter. We have had a successful first year and are looking forward to future opportunities to provide our SLIS students with career support and professional development events.
Our closing event for the spring semester will be a career talk by Azetta Williams Beatty, the Senior Assistant Director at the James W. Stuckert Career Center and a career counselor here at the University of Kentucky.
It will be a practical guide for students who are going to start looking for jobs in the coming year, and we encourage you all to come! Distance learning students can attend this event via Adobe Connect (details to follow). Light refreshments will be provided by ALA.
Where: Little Library room 314 (conference room)
When: 6:00pm on Thursday, April 19
While you do not need to be a member of ALA to attend our student events at UK, membership in the ALA national organization is an excellent way to stay connected professionally and pursue career opportunities in our field. More information is available on the ALA web site, and the $33 student membership dues might be subsidized for you by our department! (Email our faculty advisor, Dr. Jefrey Naidoo, for application information.)
